Summer Day Camp

From June 23rd to August 1st 2025

AGE GROUPS

  • children aged 4 to 6 will learn about the different species of Quebec frogs and how to care for them.

  • Quebec is home to seven species of turtle. Our 7 to 9-year-olds will get to know them and contribute to their survival.

  • Weasels belong to the mustelid family, along with otters, martens, pekans, ermines and wolverines. Our 10 to 12-year-old pre-teens will tell you all about them after their weeks at camp!

At Jardin William day camp, we prioritize time spent in nature and children-led discovery of the environment. In summer, we'll also spend time at the pool and splash pad, and every week, there will be gardening activities to which the kids will be able to participate.

Children will be invited to use their creativity. This summer, we will explore three different themes. Our music camp, our botanical printing and dyeing camp and our drama camp will all take place outdoors, barring extreme conditions. Our primary source of inspiration will be the natural world around us! What's more, there will be a continuity between the themes of the different weeks, for the children who will be with us for the whole program.

***Registration is for a minimum of two-week series.

Music and Movement Camp in Nature

Weeks 1 & 2

June 23 to July 4, 2025
(off on June 24 and July 1)

A great way to start the summer! Together, we'll discover musical games inspired by yoga and various cultures to stretch our limbs. We'll build musical instruments with natural elements found around us, paint musical pieces and learn to imitate birdsong. We'll learn about the musical history of Little Burgundy. We'll also get to know the plants that surround us and do a bit of gardening. Above all, we'll be laughing, playing and spending time outdoors! A show for families will conclude these two weeks.

Impressive Discoveries —

Printmaking Workshops in Nature

Weeks 3 & 4

July 7th to July 18, 2025

Become a colour magician! Discover all the colours in nature and create your own magical collection! Create your own collection of inks, paints and dyes using natural pigments. Together, we'll go in search of natural elements to create our own works of art. We'll be dazzled by the magical, unsuspected properties of the plants around us and by the harvests from our garden. We'll experiment with different printing techniques adapted to everyone's age and interests. We'll see how the sun can help us in our experiments. We'll even make our own seeded paper!

Our days will include foraging, scientific experiments and artistic games during these two colourful weeks! And, of course, we'll enjoy the fresh air and good company!

Fantastic Beasts Theatre Adventure —

Nature Theatre Camp

Weeks 5 & 6

July 21 to August 1, 2025

A week of adventures culminating in a show for our families! Each group will stage their own play. We'll set off to meet the fantastic creatures, imaginary or otherwise, big or small, that inhabit our green spaces. We'll take care of them by adapting our garden to their needs. We'll make masks and puppets from natural materials. We'll tell stories, myths and legends, transforming them to our own liking and putting them on stage. We'll use musical instruments and artworks created in previous weeks, or revisit certain techniques to create songs, shelters for our urban forest friends, sets and costumes. All while enjoying the fresh air and moving. Let the play begin!

Tell Me About the Forest

Tell Me About the Forest is an opportunity for children and their families to redefine their experience of the forest in an urban environment. In their own words, and through artistic practices, they get to express what the forest means to them. Together, we learn to look at, understand, relate to, respect and care for the beings - human, animal and plant - that inhabit our green spaces. We learn to belong to the natural environment that surrounds us.

Through storytelling and art activities, children will cultivate their curiosity, creativity, and wonder about the natural world. Free play will also be highlighted, allowing us to move and let loose!

A program of stimulating and inspiring activities has been planned in line with Jardin William's founding values.

Autonomy - Fun - Cooperation - Respect

A forest School in the Southwest

Our base camp is located in the wooded Herbert-Brown-Ames Park and we have access to heated indoor spaces for breaks (these will be indicated to parents at registration). We also explore adjacent parks and the Lachine Canal. Depending on weather conditions and group size, we also plan excursions to Angrignon Park, Mount Royal or the banks of Verdun (Verdun Beach or the Grand Potager).
